Part of what makes a successful business is you. You may feel that if you were to step away from it for a day or two, everything would fall apart. But when you’re running a business and are always giving 100%, you probably don’t have the right balance. Here’s what you can do to improve it.

build relationships

If you are all about work, how much of your life outside of work has been affected? It’s important that you focus on creating meaningful relationships. Especially if your personal life is close to nonexistent. 

Over time, the more you focus on your business, the more other areas of your life may suffer. So, it’s healthy for you to start building relationships away from work. But overwhelm yourself, start small. That’s not saying that you need to be on Tinder, Asian Cupid, or some Arab dating site. Meet new people, in-person. Get out and join groups or organizations that interest you. The goal is to get more real-life human interaction.


make personal time a priority

Most women report feeling more energized after having spent some quality time alone. But it’s important to make sure that you make the most of that time. After all, it can be a rare occurrence to find a moment alone away from work, family, and other responsibilities.

      • Spend your time checking something off of your self-care wishlist.
      • Do something that energizes or relaxes you.
      • Catch up on your personal goals.

find a hobby

As you start putting together a personal development plan, consider finding hobbies that you enjoy. It’s hardly a surprise that so many people enjoy practicing yoga, playing video games, taking a dance class or learning an instrument. Even though technically they’re doing work to develop in these areas, it’s also rejuvenating to be doing something for yourself.

Running a business is more than a full-time job because, for most, the responsibility never stops.  If you find that you’re losing sight of life outside of work, it’s time to evaluate your work-life balance.
