Working moms have a lot on their plate. Not only do they have to look after their family and run a household, but they also have to maintain a busy professional life. While it’s possible to do; it takes a little effort on your part to get started.
Ready for better work/life balance? Here are a few tips to help you get started.
take time off
Don’t overdo it. Try to limit overtime and late nights, if possible. Be as organized as possible with your work, to keep it from spilling over into your personal time too often. Designate family time. This should be the time that is reserved for you and your family only. This time should be fun and relaxed to help you lower your stress levels and build memories at the same time.
If it’s time for yourself that you need, carve out space for you to do things you enjoy. Write in your diary. Read that book that’s been sitting on your nightstand. Or take some time to visit the local museum exhibit.
work when it’s most convenient
Take advantage of blocks of time that work for your busy lifestyle. We sometimes try to do specific tasks during times of the day that aren’t realistic. Try to look for moments that allow you get more done with less stress. For example, finish your report while the baby is napping; get insurance information via online chat instead of getting stuck on the phone, and make phone calls early in the day – before the world gets busy.

If you have gone into business with a partner or you have a team to support your business, use them! Get clear on performance expectations and who is responsible for what. Be sure to not overload your own plate for the sake of others and use their expertise to create or maintain momentum.
invest in things that make life easier
Invest in a few conveniences for your home that allow you to maximize family time. For instance, investing in a slow cooker is at the top of our list. It makes dinner simple… even for those of us that are extremely busy. Simply put all the ingredients in first thing in the morning and when you return home, after a long day, voila, dinner is ready.
