We all go through periods in life that we wish we could have skipped right over. Sometimes, we face unexpected setbacks and sometimes we have to face the reality of knowing what we were getting into. It’s important that we don’t let life’s disappointments cripple or steal our ability to be happy.
You may be thinking that that’s easier said than done, but it is possible to get things back on track. It’s all about changing your mindset and not allowing moments to take control of your life and sabotage your overall wellbeing.
Change starts with choice… and you’re only a few choices away from reclaiming your power and your happiness.
Let’s explore a few areas that need your attention for you to find your happiness.
no more grudges
Resentment and unforgiveness will always bring you more personal pain that the person those feeling are directed at. If you’ve been holding on to negative feelings about someone, it’s time to give yourself permission to release them. It doesn’t matter if you have an in-person forgiveness ceremony or just let go of those bottled up emotions, on your own, internally. What’s important is that you let it go and start to heal.If you’ve been holding on to negative feelings about someone, it's time to give yourself permission to release them. Click To Tweet
stop saying who you want to be and start becoming…
How many times have you told someone that you want to write a book or that you want to start painting… or maybe even that you want to live a healthier lifestyle or learn another language. Stop living a life of missed opportunities – a life you’ll later regret.
Stop repeating the same tired empty words over and over again. It’s time to start becoming the woman you aspire to be. Start by dedicating time to your aspiration. Sign up for a class, download a language app, or pick up some art supplies the next time you’re out shopping. Just get started.Stop repeating the same tired empty words over and over again. learn to say no
We’re all guilty of it… but this one steals our happiness often without us even realizing it. For example, you really don’t want to hang out with your sister tomorrow night – guess what? You don’t have to. Or you don’t want to look anti-social so you keep agreeing to drinks with your co-workers.
Repeat after me, “It’s okay to have boundaries and to do what I feel is best for me, my personal well-being, and my schedule”.
You’ll feel good about doing what feels right for you and you’ll also experience a little confidence boost.
When you’re feeling heavy and are in need of a fresh perspective, write down what you’re grateful for. Not some long narrated script sounding list, but actually what you’re thankful for on that day. Sometimes it will be full of sappy things like “my romantic husband making me a bubble bath” or “my best friend sent me flowers to congratulate me on my new job”. Some days, it might be “I’m thankful that I didn’t get completely out of character and cuss my boss out”. Other days, you’ll draw a firm, resolute, BLANK.
In those moments, don’t stress yourself out. Keep it simple: “Today I’m grateful for this comfortable bed and that Caramel Brulee Latte that was soo good this morning… that is all.” One thing’s for sure, no matter how silly it seems, this is one way to shift to happy thoughts no matter what mood you were in.
get comfortable with your money
Are your finances stealing your joy? Believe it or not… this is a very real thing. The way we interact with money is often reflected in our overall demeanor. It’s time to infuse a little positivity and happy vibes into how you handle your money.
Happy women value themselves and understand the power of intentional financial habits. They attract abundance in all areas of life and money flows to them freely and consistently.
This doesn’t mean that they don’t experience financial troubles or shortfalls. But it does mean that they have an elevated way of handling money crisis’. When things aren’t adding up or their bank accounts look a little funny, they don’t get overwhelmed – instead, they find creative ways to make more money.Happy women value themselves and understand the power of intentional financial habits. value your own opinion and judgment
Stop devaluing your own ability to make a decision. If you find that you’re constantly seeking advice on your love life, your finances, where to vacation, or even what to eat, you may be slipping down a path of not trusting your own instinct. Ever felt a little uncomfortable when someone gave you unsolicited advice? It’s because most of the time you don’t need it.

You have to learn to trust that you have everything you need to make decisions for yourself, and if you start to feel a little disconnected or out of sorts, it’s likely because you’re not tuned in to your intuition.
give yourself a little grace… in the form of a break
Sometimes all you need to heighten the mood is to get away… literally.
Juggling a lot at work? Delegate. Feeling overwhelmed and need a mental break? Schedule a spa day or book a staycation. Kids getting out of control? Call grandma. Still haggling with your job about your worker’s compensation claim, get a personal injury lawyer.
You get the point right?
We often make ‘taking a break‘ a grand idea… like needing to plan a trip, take a week off from work, or binge watch Netflix for an entire weekend – when really you might just need a few minutes to yourself to catch your breath.
- Light a few candles, put your phone on DND and read a good book.
- Take a bubble bath or a long walk.
- Order in and watch a feel-good movie.
Happiness starts with your well-being. Trust me, you can’t be happy and overworked, overwhelmed, and over-stressed! So start by giving yourself a little grace. Let yourself breathe easy for a moment. Then, return to your normal routine, refreshed, rejuvenated, and happy!
